Terms of service
Klofy writes into a store somebody depends on for a living. These terms settle what it may change, what it costs, and who carries what. Written to be read once and checked later.
Who these terms are between
Klofy is a suite of Shopify apps built and operated by Kloeth Digital B.V., a company registered in the Netherlands. Where these terms say we or us, that is the company below.
Where they say you, that is the business that installs a Klofy app on its Shopify store. Klofy is offered to merchants running a shop, so this is an agreement between two businesses.

What you agree to
Installing a Klofy app on a Shopify store means you accept these terms. If you install on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to accept them for that company.
Shopify is not a party to this agreement. Your relationship with Shopify runs on Shopify's own terms and those apply alongside these. Where Shopify's rules for apps are stricter than anything written here, Shopify's rules win.
If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them stay in force.
What the apps do
The suite currently consists of:
- Klofy - 404 & Redirects. Klofy checks the redirects your store already has, finds the URLs that quietly went dead without one, and writes every fix straight into Shopify. What it does in detail.
Each app asks Shopify only for the permissions its own job needs, and those are listed in the privacy policy. None of them include customer or order data, so an app cannot read customer records or orders even if it wanted to.
Changes Klofy makes to your store
This is the part worth reading properly, because it is the part where software touches a live shop.
- Scanning never changes anything. Finding dead URLs and broken redirects is a read. Nothing in your store moves because Klofy looked at it.
- Klofy writes only what you approve. Every change starts with you pressing a button next to a specific finding. There is no automatic mode, and there is no setting that turns one on.
- Every write is a native Shopify URL redirect. It lives in your store, under URL redirects in your Shopify admin, and it keeps working after you uninstall Klofy. Nothing depends on us staying online, and nothing depends on you staying a customer.
- Klofy checks before it writes. It tests the destination against your live storefront and declines to write when it cannot confirm what it is about to do. That is a guardrail against an obvious mistake, not a promise that every destination is the one you would have picked.
- A redirect Klofy created can be removed again from its change log, which records the redirect, its old destination and its new one.
- One kind of change cannot be reversed. When Klofy shortens a chain of redirects, the earlier destination was itself a redirect, and Shopify does not allow a redirect to point at another redirect. So that step cannot be put back. Klofy says so on the change itself rather than offering a button that would fail. Visitors still arrive at the same final page.
Your store's URLs stay your responsibility. Klofy proposes a destination and shows you why; approving it is your call, and for a page that matters commercially it is worth the ten seconds of looking.
What Klofy requests from the web
To answer whether an address is alive, Klofy has to request it. Almost every one of those requests goes to your own storefront. A few go to a host your store links to, and some go to the Internet Archive to find out what a dead page used to be.
Our crawler identifies itself, states its purpose, and is described in full on the crawler page, including how a server operator can make it stop. By installing Klofy you are asking us to check your store this way.
What it costs
Today Klofy has one plan and it is free. There is no charge, no trial that turns into one, and no card on file.
If we introduce a paid plan later, it will run through Shopify's own billing, which means no amount can be charged to you without you approving that charge in your Shopify admin first. You will not be moved from free to paid quietly, and continuing to use the app is not approval. What a paid plan costs and what it includes will be on the app's App Store listing before you are asked anything.
Beta software
Klofy 404 & Redirects is in beta. It runs on real stores and is covered by an automated test suite, but it is young software and we would rather say that here than let you find out.
In practice: features can change, screens can move, and we will ask you what broke. What does not change during beta is the thing underneath. The redirects it writes are ordinary Shopify data, so a beta app leaving does not take your fixes with it.
Availability and support
We do our best to keep the app up, and we do not promise a percentage. There is no service level agreement, which is the honest position for an app nobody is paying for.
If our servers are unreachable, your storefront is unaffected. Klofy sits outside the path of a normal page load: the redirects it wrote are Shopify's own, and the part of Klofy that runs on your storefront only appears on a page that is already a 404 and fails silently if it cannot reach us.
Support runs on one address, support@klofy.app, and is answered by the person who writes the code. We aim for one business day. See the support page for what helps us answer faster.
Your data
What each app stores, where it lives and how long it stays is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of this agreement.
The short version: data from your store is processed on your instructions. You decide what happens with it and we act on that, which in the language of the GDPR makes you the controller and us the processor. Everything the apps record is held on servers in Germany.
When you uninstall, Shopify tells us roughly forty eight hours later and everything belonging to your store is deleted. The redirects stay, because they are yours and they are the point.
What you may not do
- Install a Klofy app on a store you neither own nor are authorised to manage.
- Use Klofy to send requests at a host you have no relationship with, by putting addresses in your store for that purpose. The crawler follows what your store points at, and that is the only reason it may reach anyone.
- Try to break, overload or work around the service, or take it apart to rebuild it elsewhere.
- Resell access to the app or run it as a service for stores that are not yours.
If an installation is doing one of these, we may suspend it. We will tell you why, and by email, unless the law stops us.
Who owns what
The apps, this website, the name Klofy and its mark belong to us. Installing an app gives you the right to use it while it is installed, and nothing beyond that.
Your store data is yours, and so is everything Klofy writes into your store. A redirect it created is an ordinary Shopify redirect the moment it exists, with no marker on it and no strings attached.
If you send us an idea or a complaint about how the app works, we may act on it and build it, without that creating a claim. Say so if you would rather we did not.
Liability
The apps are provided as they are. We do not warrant that they are free of errors, that every finding is a real problem, or that a suggested destination is the one you would have chosen. That is why nothing is written without you approving it.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and that includes lost sales, lost traffic and lost search rankings.
Where we are liable, our total liability over any twelve month period is limited to what you paid us during that period. Since the app is free today that amount is zero, and we would rather put that plainly here than bury it in a clause. If you need a redirect change to carry more risk than that, check it before you approve it.
None of this limits our liability for intent or deliberate recklessness, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Dutch law.
Ending this agreement
You end it by uninstalling the app. No notice, no term, no last invoice.
We may end it if you break these terms, or if we retire an app. If we retire one, merchants with it installed are told by email first, with enough notice to be able to do something about it.
What survives the ending: the redirects in your store. What does not: your data with us, which is deleted after uninstall as described above.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with them and merchants with an app installed are told by email. Using the app after that means accepting the new version. If you would rather not, uninstalling is the answer and it costs you nothing.
Which law applies
Dutch law applies to this agreement. If we cannot settle a dispute between us, it goes to the competent court in the Netherlands.
